The participants themselves will be creating the programme of events and activities along the A40/B1 motorway. Each of the 20,000 tables will therefore be a small stage in itself. Participants are free to decide what they want to present. The banqueting table of cultures will be set up along the "programme" side of the motorway from Dortmund to Duisburg. The programme will be enriched by contributions from the seven towns and cities along the motorway, Duisburg, Oberhausen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum and Dortmund, each of which will have its own particular stage.
Urban sports clubs will be joining forces with the State Sports Federation to construct "islands of sport" all the way from Dortmund to Duisburg. In the opposite direction - on the so-called mobility side from Duisburg to Dortmund - visitors will be able to travel on any wheeled vehicle they please, providing it has no motor.
There is no necessity for anyone to register in advance if they merely wish to use the mobility side of the motorway. The same applies to anyone who simply wishes to stroll along the banqueting side with its programme of cultures. The North Rhine Westphalia section of the National German Cycle Club (ADFC NRW) will be supporting the project. Visitors who wish to travel the mobility side by bike are therefore invited to contact the ADFC NRW. We would like to remind all the groups who reserve a table and intend to contribute to the programme that, when planning their contribution, they should take account of the fact that there will be no electricity and water connections along the route. In addition we recommend that visitors only bring light portable objects with them, since the tables can only be reached on foot. All the objects which are brought along must be taken back home again when leaving the motorway. We therefore request you to take account of the general notes on the event when preparing your contribution to the programme.
You can also download an overview of the motorway stretch to see where interesting points for every city can be found.
The precise programme is still in the planning stage. You can find the latest information on the programme on this website. The route plan will show you where the different activities are taking place.
